Custom WordPress websites for small businesses across the U.S. — built to convert, rank, and last.

WordPress is the most flexible website platform on the internet — and that's a problem if you don't know what you're doing. Out of the box, a default WordPress site is slow, generic, and not particularly good at converting visitors into customers.

A WordPress site built right is fast, mobile-ready, designed for the way real visitors actually use websites, and built so you can update it yourself if you want to.

That's what Bochi Web builds. Then, once it's live, we manage it — or you do.

What's Included in a Bochi Web WordPress Build

Every Bochi Web build includes the work that makes a WordPress site fast, secure, and easy to use — not just the surface design.

Custom Design

Not a template you can find on three thousand other sites. Designed around your business, your customers, and your goals.

Fast Loading

Built on a tuned WordPress install with a lightweight theme, optimized images, and caching configured properly. Core Web Vitals tested before launch.

Mobile-First

Designed for phones first, desktops second. Sixty percent of small business traffic is mobile.

Local SEO Ready

Google Business Profile schema, LocalBusiness markup, proper title tags and meta descriptions, internal linking structured for search.

Easy to Update

Gutenberg blocks set up so you (or your team) can edit pages without needing a developer.

Forms That Work

Contact forms, quote forms, lead capture — set up with proper SMTP, spam protection, and reply notifications that actually arrive.

Hosting Recommendations

We don't host, but we'll tell you exactly what to use and help you get set up.

Training

When the site's live, we walk you through how to update it and what to expect ongoing.

Why WordPress (And When You Shouldn't)

WordPress isn't the right answer for every business. It's the right answer for most. Here's how it compares.

WordPress

The right answer for most small businesses.

  • Largest plugin ecosystem of any website platform
  • Ranks well in Google when built correctly
  • You own the files and the database — not a closed platform
  • Scales with your business

Wix & Squarespace

Okay for tight budgets and DIY ownership.

  • Easy to use day one
  • Cheap when you build it yourself
  • Locked-in platform — painful to move off later
  • Limited customization at scale

Custom-Built (no platform)

Right only for businesses with full-time developers.

  • Maximum flexibility
  • Requires in-house developers to maintain
  • Almost never the right call for a small business
  • No plugin ecosystem to lean on

If you are not sure, talk to us. We'll be honest about whether WordPress is the right fit.

How a Bochi Web Build Works

Most builds take 6 to 8 weeks. Simpler sites can be faster; complex builds (e-commerce, multi-location, custom functionality) take longer.

1

Discovery (Week 1)

We talk through your business, your customers, your competitors, and what the site needs to do. You fill out a structured brief. We pull together rough direction.

2

Design (Weeks 2–3)

Wireframes first, then designed pages. You review, give feedback, we revise. Two rounds of revisions included; more if needed.

3

Build (Weeks 4–5)

Development on WordPress. We build pages, set up plugins, configure performance and SEO, test on mobile and desktop, set up forms.

4

Review and Revisions (Week 6)

You walk through the staging site. We make final adjustments.

5

Launch (Week 7)

We push live, monitor for 48 hours, fix anything that surfaces. You're trained on how to update it.

6

Ongoing (Optional)

Most clients move into a maintenance or management plan after launch. If you want to maintain it yourself, you can — we will have set it up so that is possible.

What a WordPress Build Costs

WordPress build pricing depends on what the site needs to do. A few rough benchmarks for the kinds of work we do:

  • Single-page sites — starting around $1,500
  • Standard small business sites (5-10 pages) — typically $3,000 to $6,500
  • Larger small business sites (15-25 pages) — typically $6,500 to $12,000
  • E-commerce (WooCommerce) — typically $7,500 and up depending on catalog and complexity
  • Multi-location or custom functionality — quoted individually

Pricing is fixed, not hourly. You'll know the cost before we start. We don't surprise-bill.

Email Phil at phil@bochiweb.com with a few sentences about what you need and you'll get a real quote within two business days.

"It's hard finding a great designer with attention to detail that also does SEO work and website maintenance. On top of all that, the price was great. I'm very satisfied."

— Teri W., Bochi Web client

Why Bochi Web Builds Differently

Most WordPress builds you'll find at our price point fall into two categories: cheap template assemblies (someone bought a $59 theme and filled in your content), or expensive overbuilds (an agency charged you $25,000 to build something that should have cost $7,000).

We sit in the middle. Custom design, real development, sensible scope. We don't oversell features you don't need, and we don't cut corners on the parts that matter — performance, security, mobile, SEO.

  • Named team, US-based. Phil Bochi runs Bochi Web out of Marion, Iowa. The developers building your site are named — Gene, Rick, Shawn, Alex, Danny — and on the same team that will manage the site afterward if you want.
  • No template shortcuts. We design from scratch around your business.
  • You own everything. The files, the database, the hosting — yours. We don't lock you into our hosting or our agency.
  • Smooth handoff to management. If you go on a management or maintenance plan after launch, the team managing your site is the team that built it.

FAQs

Common Questions About WordPress Website Design

Answers to the questions small business owners ask before commissioning a new WordPress site.

It depends on the scope. Single-page sites start around $1,500. Standard small business sites with 5 to 10 pages typically run $3,000 to $6,500. Larger sites or WooCommerce stores run $6,500 to $12,000+. Custom functionality is quoted individually. Pricing is fixed before we start work, not hourly.

Most builds take 6 to 8 weeks from kickoff to launch. Simpler sites can be faster. Complex sites (e-commerce, multi-location, custom integrations) take longer. We'll commit to a timeline once we know your scope.

WordPress gives you ownership and flexibility. You own the files and the database — they are not locked behind a platform. WordPress has the largest plugin ecosystem of any website platform, ranks well in Google when built correctly, and scales as your business grows. Wix and Squarespace are easier to use day one, but harder to move away from and more limited at scale.

Yes. We build with Gutenberg blocks set up so you can edit pages, blog posts, and content without touching code. We'll train you (or your team) on how to update the site before launch. If you'd rather have us handle updates, we have management plans for that.

No. We don't host. We'll recommend specific hosting based on what your site needs, and we'll help you get set up. You own your hosting account and your domain, both for control and so you're not locked into us.

A clear sense of what your business does, who your customers are, what the site needs to accomplish (leads, bookings, sales, info), any existing brand assets (logo, colors, photos), and the content for the pages (or willingness to work with us to write it). We'll send you a structured brief to make this easy.

Yes — we build WooCommerce stores. Pricing typically starts around $7,500 because there is substantially more setup involved (products, payment, shipping, tax, security). Larger or more complex stores quote higher.

Yes. About half of our builds are redesigns. We'll audit what's there, talk about what to keep and what to rebuild, and quote the redesign as a scope of work.

Two options. You can manage the site yourself — we will have set it up so that is possible, and we will train you. Or you can move onto a maintenance plan ($45/month) or management plan ($75+/month) and we keep the site updated, monitored, and improving. Most clients pick one of the plans.
